Spicy Thai Basil Chicken

Spicy Thai Basil Chicken, also known as 'Pad Krapow Gai,' is a beloved street food dish in Thailand. It's quick to make, flavorful, and perfect for a weeknight dinner. Let's dive into this aromatic dish that brings the flavors of Thailand right to your kitchen.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb chicken breast, sliced thin
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 Thai chilies, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • Steamed rice, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and Thai chilies, stirring constantly for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Add the sliced chicken to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the chicken is no longer pink.
  3. Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Mix well to ensure the chicken is coated with the sauce.
  4. Add the sliced red bell pepper and continue to cook for another 2 minutes.
  5. Toss in the Thai basil leaves and stir until they are wilted and well combined with the chicken and peppers.
  6. Remove from heat and serve the spicy Thai basil chicken over steamed rice. Enjoy your delicious homemade dish!
