This rustic galette combines the sweet and savory flavors of caramelized shallots and creamy goat cheese for a delightful treat. Perfect as an appetizer or a light meal, this galette is both elegant and easy to make.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
- 4 large shallots, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tsp honey
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 oz goat cheese, crumbled
- 1 egg, beaten
- Fresh thyme leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced shallots and cook until they are soft and beginning to caramelize, about 15 minutes.
- Add balsamic vinegar, honey, salt, and pepper to the shallots. Cook for another 5 minutes until the mixture is thick and sticky. Remove from heat.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to about 12 inches in diameter.
- Place the pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread the caramelized shallots evenly over the pastry, leaving a 2-inch border around the edges.
- Sprinkle the crumbled goat cheese over the shallots.
- Fold the edges of the pastry over the filling, pleating as necessary. Brush the edges with beaten egg.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves before serving.
