Biscuit Recipe
Ingredients
- all-purpose flour
- baking powder
- baking soda
- sugar
- salt
- pork lard
- buttermilk
- optional melted butter
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C)
2. Measure 2 cups all-purpose flour and add to a mixing bowl
3. Add 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon sugar, and 3/4 teaspoon salt to the flour
4. Measure 1/3 cup cold pork lard and cut it into the dry ingredients until pea-sized pieces form
5. Slowly pour in 3/4 to 1 cup cold buttermilk and gently mix just until the dough comes together
6. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and fold it over itself 3 to 4 times
7. Pat dough to 3/4-inch thickness
8. Cut biscuits straight down without twisting
9. Place biscuits touching each other on a baking sheet
10. Bake biscuits for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown
11. Optional: Brush tops with melted butter immediately after baking
