Banana Pudding
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup half-and-half
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
- pinch of salt
- 1/2 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ripe banana
Instructions
1. Measure 1/2 cup half-and-half
2. Separate 1 egg yolk
3. Measure 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
4. Add a tiny pinch of salt
5. Whisk 1/2 cup half-and-half, 1 egg yolk, 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar, and salt together in a small saucepan
6. Cook the mixture over low heat while stirring constantly for 4–6 minutes until it coats the back of a spoon
7. Remove saucepan from heat
8. Add 1/2 tablespoon butter
9. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
10. Peel 1 ripe banana
11. Mash 1 banana until smooth
12. Fold mashed banana into the warm custard
13. Pour pudding into a small bowl or ramekin
14. Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface
15. Chill for 1–2 hours before eating
